VPN:

Telecommuters and small remote offices need secure access to the Internet and to their corporate networks. And they need this connectivity to be priced economically. The Filanet™InterJak™ Internet Service Appliance guarantees the privacy and protection of data to ever-increasing numbers of remote users and offices through VPN connectivity.

Virtual private networks (VPNs) leverage advanced security, access control and authentication features to connect outside users, be they consumers or business partners. VPNs remedy modem pool maintenance, remote access server management and telephone access costs. The Filanet InterJak expands user connectivity and cost controls.

Tunneling is at the heart of all VPN implementations with advanced encryption, authentication and access control as the core set of technologies. The InterJak employs firewall security with the industry standards of IPsecurity (IPsec) for mobile VPN and PPTP for site-to-site connectivity. A mobile VPN tunnel directly plugs a user's PC into the corporate network for total access and complete security. A site-to-site tunnel fuses a local area network (LAN) to disparate corporate or partner networks through an Internet connection with strong data authentication and privacy guarantees. The InterJak VPN is an add-on-keyed service that is either available at time of purchase or remotely activated after purchase.

Content Filtering:

The Filanet™ InterJak™ Internet Service Appliance offers a complete, secure networking solution for classrooms and small offices. In addition to the built-in firewall with URL filtering, the InterJak can also provide advanced content filtering using the proprietary Filter Engine from SurfControl. It blocks objectionable and non-productive sites with profiles based on any combination of categories, IP addresses, and user ID's.

The InterJak uses extensive CyberLISTs, which are researched, reviewed and categorized by SurfControl on a regular basis. These lists contain fully customizable categories and subcategories of blocked and allowed sites. These lists can be exactly tailored to meet the needs of individual Internet users. Content filtering with the InterJak promotes intelligent Internet use while maintaining normal business and classroom activities. The Internet is a powerful tool for learning and communicating. The InterJak allows users to share files, printers and Internet access, while maintaining a secure, protected environment to work or learn in. The InterJak Content Filter is configured as an add-on keyed service that is available at time of purchase or it can be remotely activated after purchase of the InterJak Internet Service Appliance.

Traffic Shaping:

The Filanet™ InterJak™ Internet Service Appliance prioritizes network traffic to ensure good response times. It classifies Internet traffic into several categories thereby providing better service for selected network traffic. Bandwidth is increased for critical traffic and reduced for non-critical traffic.

Traffic shaping with the InterJak is valuable when the amount of outgoing traffic exceeds the available bandwidth of the Internet connection. The role of traffic shaping is to protect the entire network from congestion and achieve optimum network performance. Without the InterJak traffic shaping, Internet traffic is sent to the Internet in the order received. If low priority file transfers arrive ahead of the mission-critical traffic, the performance will suffer for traffic that is vital. The InterJak classifies the traffic according to source/destination, application, or a combination of the two. It then prioritizes the traffic and the high-priority applications receive immediate access to the network while non-productive traffic is assigned a lower priority. This ensures a smooth and consistent flow across the network even in the most congested times. The InterJak also provides the administrator with the ability to identify the high priority traffic with packet tagging. The InterJak Traffic Shaping is configured as an add-on keyed service that is available at time of purchase or it can be remotely activated after purchase of the InterJak Internet Service Appliance.

Network Monitoring:

The Filanet™ InterJak™ Internet Service Appliance provides a network monitoring solution for the small business environment. All of the statistics and status of your network are stored on the InterJak and are fully accessible with your Web browser. This includes information about connectivity through the network, availability of various servers, and information about the load on the InterJak. Graphing and consolidation of network status provides easy overview and pinpointing of problems. The InterJak Network Monitor offers a simple way to keep track of the health of your network.

Intrusion Detection:

The Filanet™ InterJak™ is a Platform for Internet Services Delivery that offers a robust security solution with intrusion detection. The InterJak Intrusion Detection detects and reports various kinds of attacks against the InterJak and the protected network. It analyzes data-stream packets to identify threats, alerts the administrator, and provides reports on the attacks.

The InterJak Intrusion Detection supplies necessary information about the attacks while the actual attacks are prevented by the solid, built-in firewall. When an attack is identified, an alert message is immediately generated and the information can be processed by the administrator.

The InterJak Intrusion Detection is configured as an add-on keyed service that is available at time of purchase or it can be remotely activated after purchase of the InterJak Internet Service Appliance.

E-Mail Server:

The Filanet™ InterJak™ is a Platform for Internet Services Delivery that provides a full e-mail service solution for small offices, telecommuters. The e-mail service can fetch e-mail from other mail servers, either on the Internet or the office. When the InterJak has a domain name, it can act as a full e-mail server relaying and receiving Internet e-mail. Standard e-mail clients such as Outlook and Outlook Express can communicate with the e-mail service through either POP3 or IMAP protocols. When IMAP is used, e-mails can be accessed from any computer on the network, as mails are stored on the InterJak until deleted. The e-mail service is easy to configure, especially for items such as access lists, black list servers, and out-of-office replies.

The InterJak E-mail Service is a disk-based application that requires a hard disk to be attached to the InterJak. It is configured as an add-on keyed service that is available at time of purchase or it can be remotely activated after purchase of the InterJak.
