Recommendations
for attaching/detaching IEEE 1394 based storage devices
-
Initial installation: Attach and power-on all IEEE 1394 storage
devices, and then power-on the InterJak by plugging in its supplied
power adapter. You should power all attached IEEE 1394 devices with
their supplied power adapters, as the InterJak 200 can only supply
limited bus power.
-
Adding drives while the InterJak 200 is running: Power-on the IEEE
1394 storage device, and then plug it into the IEEE 1394 port at
the back on the InterJak 200.
-
Unplugging drives: Make sure that there is no on-going disk activity
before unplugging the IEEE 1394 storage device. You can tell if
there is on-going disk activity by looking at the activity light
on the IEEE 1394 storage device itself (it is safest to wait for
about 30 seconds of no activity before unplugging the device).
After
adding a new IEEE 1394 storage device, you may go to the Services:Storage
Sharing page within the Filanet Web Management Interface to view
attached storage devices and perform any storage maintenance (such
as formatting a newly attached disk).
